Silver Sisters

About The Event

Silver Sisters is a welcoming Circle for women over 60 to come together, share openly, and support one another through the transitions and experiences of later life.

This space is designed to hold the unique joys and challenges that arise in this season, whether it’s identity shifts, relationships, health, ageing, or purpose, with warmth, wisdom, and compassion.

Facilitated by experienced therapists Carol Martin-Sperry and Louise Coopman, Silver Sisters offers a peer-to-peer space for honest conversation, connection, and mutual understanding. While our facilitators are trained professionals, this Circle is not a therapy group. Instead, it’s a place for shared stories, reflection, and deep listening.
At its heart, Silver Sisters is about community and friendship, building bonds with others who know what it means to walk this path.

What to Expect:

  • Open Conversations: Explore meaningful topics that matter to women in this stage of life, whatever is present for you, from loss or change to joy and renewal.

  • Supportive Environment: A safe, respectful space for vulnerability, insight, and shared wisdom.

  • Connection & Friendship: Meet others who “get it.” This is a place to forge friendships and find solidarity in shared experience.

Whether you’re navigating change, seeking deeper connection, or simply craving thoughtful conversation, Silver Sisters offers a grounding, nurturing space to be heard, seen, and supported.

About The Speaker

Carol Martin-Sperry is a highly experienced psychotherapist with over 35 years of practice, known for her pragmatic, flexible approach grounded in psychodynamic training and guided by common sense. She is also an established sex therapist and the author of three insightful books on relationships and sexual issues: Couples and Sex: An Introduction to Relationship Dynamics and Psychosexual Concepts, Good Sex Bad Sex No Sex, and Sexual Healing: Stories and Insights from the Therapist’s Couch.

Fluent in French, Carol has worked extensively with the French community in London, and her career has spanned clinical practice, media consultancy, and public education. Beyond her professional work, Carol is a bibliophile, art lover, traveller, charity worker, and French literary translator. With her rich and varied background, Carol brings the wisdom of lived experience to her role as co-facilitator of Silver Sisters, along with a genuine enthusiasm for contributing to this space at The Hearth.

Raised in France and England, Louise Coopman is bilingual in English and French and embraces a rich blend of English and French cultures. Early in her career, she trained and worked as a teacher of French and English as foreign languages, motivated by a love of travel. She broadened her horizons through extended stays in Egypt, Morocco, Greece, and the Caribbean, nurturing a lifelong appreciation for multicultural perspectives. A resident of Queen’s Park for over 35 years, Louise raised her two children in the neighbourhood and feels deeply rooted in the local community.

With 40 years’ experience as a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, Louise worked extensively within the NHS before establishing a private practice in Harley Street. Her clinical expertise spans a broad range of adult disorders, with a particular focus on Schema-Focused Therapy — a compassionate and comprehensive approach to addressing relationship issues, depression, and personality disorders. Now mostly retired, she maintains a small online practice and is keen to strengthen her community connections in Queen’s Park.
